Karen Parker Geddes’ Empowering Dance Performance at the 2024 Festival

CHR 4132

Karen Parker Geddes used “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele for her team performance, challenging the perception people have of older dancers and their capabilities. Her piece addresses the patronising “bless them” response often heard and questions when we ever start thinking we’re too old to dance.
This dance told the story of a mindset shift that enables the dancers to discover and accept the new reality as their bodies change and continue to dance. It focuses on what they do well individually and as a team. It’s an inspiring story about overcoming new obstacles through determination and the support of others.
