Let’s Dance Together: A Celebration of Movement in the North East

On 1 March 2024, the North East Keep Fit Association hosted a lively and engaging Let’s Dance Together event at St Cuthbert’s Church Hall in Billingham. The session brought together Keep Fit Association (KFA) members, families, and friends for a fantastic afternoon of movement and dance.

An Afternoon of Dance and Fun

The event, running from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, featured two incredible sessions designed to introduce participants to the joy of dance. Leading the way was Carole Johnson, who guided attendees through an energizing Laban movement session, a style rooted in Rudolf Laban’s approach to movement analysis.

Following Carole’s session, the excitement continued with Ivy Purdham, who brought a fun and unique twist to the day by leading a lively dance with canes. This interactive and engaging experience allowed attendees to explore new ways of movement while having a fantastic time.

A Celebration for All

The Let’s Dance Together event was open to everyone, free of charge, and welcomed people of all dance backgrounds. Whether experienced in Keep Fit Laban Dance or new to structured movement, attendees had the chance to participate, connect, and celebrate fitness in a fun and relaxed setting.

A Thriving Keep Fit Community

As part of the wider Let’s Dance campaign, this North East gathering was one of many Keep Fit Association events across the country, designed to encourage people to embrace movement and wellness. With enthusiastic participants, skilled instructors, and an atmosphere filled with joy and camaraderie, the event was a shining example of how dance can bring communities together.
