Every year at the National AGM we celebrate the excellent work and efforts across the country by our volunteers. This year was no exception, with three new winners honoured.
To say that I was totally shocked and surprised when the news arrived that I was member volunteer of the year is an understatement. Of course, I am delighted. I love keep fit classes, we have a brilliant teacher in Lin Mills, and enjoy attending both local and national events. Over the years I have made lots of lasting friendships and have the Keep Fit Association to thanks for this.
I felt it was an honour just to be nominated for the teacher category but to actually win the award made it a very special moment. Thank you to all my class members who make the sessions so enjoyable; every class is a pleasure to teach.
I was surprised and pleased to hear I had won the committee member section of the National Volunteer of the Year Award, Working on any committee is always a collaborative effort and I feel priveleged to have communicated with and worked alongside so many supportive and committed volunteers around the country and, of course, in my local area of South East Essex, It has been and still is, an enjoyable experience albeit challenging at times and I value the camaraderie that volunteering and teaching for the KFA provides.
